Call Me Gabbriette

Somewhere between a nightclub bathroom and a homemade recipe lives Gabbriette, a muse of messy glamour, bratty nonchalance, and unapologetic authenticity. She’s not just a vibe. She is the vibe.

Razor-thin brows, bored-looking eyes with black eyeliner, all-black outfits with tons of leather and high heels. Always high heels. That’s Gabbriette’s signature look, our time’s it girl and the embodiment of "brat." Model, muse, Instagram chef and queen of the brat aesthetic. Why is everyone so obsessed with Gabbriette?

Always looking fresh out of the club, the North American model and digital influencer started her career in Los Angeles as a dancer. Born and raised in Orange County, she wanted to be a ballerina until modeling jobs started popping up here and there. The sleek back bun and polished look may not be her perfect fit. Ballet flats aside, she still believes she’ll return to her dancing career one day. Who knows?

Like everything about her, Gabbriette’s contradictions are part of the charm. Besides always holding a fag in her Instagram dumps, Gabbriette is also known for her vegan recipes shared across her social media. The most popular on her TikTok is a black chocolate cake. Her passion for cooking comes from her Mexican mom and Swiss-German dad. According to her, “food makes people happy and eating is sexy.” We couldn't agree more.

It might seem like she came out of nowhere, but the influencer has been around for a while and has worked with brands like Skims, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, and Diesel. Her confidence is part of her trademark and also a coping mechanism while growing up. In an interview with Highsnobiety, Gabbriette explained how she was bullied during her childhood: “I was annoyed that I was called slurs and made to feel different, because I felt fine with myself. When I would go home with my sister, we were like, ‘We’re hot, we’re fun, we’re cool people, but everyone else is just being lame.’” That’s so brat.

Speaking of which, you might have sung along to the lyrics of 360, the part that goes call me Gabbriette, you’re so inspired. So, if you didn’t know already, this is Gabbriette, one of the muses behind the brat concept. The model/influencer is part of Charli XCX’s famous crew, along with Alex Consani, Rachel Sennott, and Julia Fox.

Her relationship with the young girl from Essex comes from way back. It could be described as one of those encounters that feels like fate. The two met in 2016 when the model played a zombie in the singer music video of After The Afterparty. Three years later, Charli was hosting a Netflix series, I’m with the Band: Nasty Cherry, about the process of forming a girl band. She needed a lead singer and asked for Gabbriette to send a few videos singing and, just like that, it all happened. The band split up in 2021 but the friendship between Charli xcx and Gabbriette has endured. Feels like a full circle moment seeing the model in the 360 music video, doesn’t it?

Music may no longer be her stage, but Gabbriette has carved out a name for herself beyond any single title. Model. Influencer. Alt-beauty icon. And in a world where authenticity is branded and chaos is curated, maybe it’s her refusal to be either that makes her so compelling.

Gen Z, after all, craves the real, and Gabbriette embodies it. The model has a lot of big tattoos at a time when many are paying to have them removed, razor-thin eyebrows when the trend is to fluff them up, and isn’t ashamed to be seen smoking a cigarette. In short, she’s the opposite of a clean girl. She even has a pet rat named Splinter.

Her aesthetic is deeply rooted in a ’90s grunge look. You’ll always find her in black outfits, with leather, and skinny, low-rise trousers. Very short skirts and kitten heels. There’s a strong resemblance to Angelina Jolie in her early days, but Gabbriette’s references lean more toward dominatrixes and 1950s pin-up stars. She has fully embraced the indie sleaze comeback: a pinch of messiness and chaotic energy wrapped in a nostalgic 90s vibe, now revived by new trends.

Even her engagement ring has an edge: a huge black diamond surrounded by a halo of tiny white ones. Pretty much a custom-made statement piece. Her fiancé? The lead singer of The 1975, Matty Healy. As she said when announcing the engagement, marrying The 1975 is very brat. Agreed.

When it comes to serving face, alt-beauty is a great way to define Gabbriette’s signature look. Here, the goal is to leave behind mainstream beauty ideals and embrace expressions that might feel a little weird, a little off but are incredibly distinctive. It’s unconventional, and that’s the point. In her Vogue beauty secrets video, the model showed off her homemade grey lipstick and skipped undereye concealer. The inspiration for alt-beauty comes from subcultures and countercultures like goth, punk, and emo.

Gabbriette is the perfect zeitgeist of the moment: authenticity blended with quirk. Slightly controversial and unapologetic. She is to Gen Z what Alexa Chung was to millennials and we’re here for it.
