Ralph Lauren welcomed us with forty-seven new looks for Fall 2025, from blazers and trench coats to bohemian-inspired dresses and bustiers. Ralph Lauren returned to Manhattan on Thursday, April 17, to showcase his Fall 2025 collection in Tribeca. As the “horse girl” aesthetic experiences another resurgence, Ralph Lauren is taking a bite of the moment, indulging in “horse girl” to connect with today’s fashion. Ralph Lauren’s creative director, James M. Jeter—one of the few Black creatives—unveiled a collection that interprets equestrian style, making pieces that resonate with women of diverse demographics.

You might ask, what is the horse girl aesthetic?

Horse Girl is a lifestyle that draws inspiration from horseback riding and equestrian culture, featuring riding boots, tassels, blazers, and trousers. Horse girls favor comfort over style, and Ralph Lauren plays on this by incorporating functional accessories—like belts, gloves, and harnesses that are typically lined for horseback riding—to tap into the aesthetic but with a “high-fashion” approach to it.

Socialites and artists like Bella Hadid and Doechii have been among those who whole-heartedly embraced the “horse girl” aesthetic. Coincidentally, both have also transitioned into new chapters of their lives—Hadid with a new relationship, and Doechii with her rise to fame—echoing another theme of the “horse girl,” freedom and embracing the moment.

In Ralph Lauren’s latest collection, the palette is grounded in neutrals of black, beige, brown, and white, creating a quiet but bohemian luxury. Belts and shoes throughout the collection are offered exclusively in rich brown and black. Lauren makes a risky but traditional choice to make the accessories function as a practical extension of the look. The collection creates looks where every piece is essential rather than ornamental. Another layer Lauren threads into is lace and embroidery, which can be theorized as a theme of beauty of the stable life.

Jewelry in the collection takes an understated approach, allowing the clothing to take more of a command. There were a few standout moments where earrings and bold neckpieces illuminated the looks. Ralph Lauren nods to the Victorian influence with looks of ruffled collars framed around neck jewels and silver accessories that resemble the classic “Albert chain,” a pocketwatch fastened to pants and buttonholes.

Ralph Lauren closes the show with Mona Tougaard, who delivers the final look of a flowing, buttoned dress that appears to be a silk or airy linen blend with a deep V-neckline. A complimentary long necklace draws eyes downward with the neckline, accentuating the relaxed structure of the silhouette. Cinched at the waist is a wide belt with a silver embellishment, and at the hem, there is an intricate embroidery which adds a more delicate touch to the look. Tougaard’s look encapsulates every theme of the collection. Ralph Lauren’s craftsmanship is evident through button embellishments on the dress, while the Victorian influence is showcased through wrist ruffle cuffs and jewelry. The airy silhouette of the dress, paired with the waist belt, sends a final reference to the horse girl aesthetic, creating a blend of refinement and a rustic narrative.
